A good square or waterfront looks like it was always meant to be there. That ease is designed: in the way people arrive and pause, in generous edges, in materials chosen to wear well and age gracefully rather than to impress on opening day.
We design streets, squares and waterfronts across the upper North Island, considering ecology, materials and embodied carbon from the first sketch so a place gives back more than it takes over its life.
Materials and carbon
Every material is a decision with a long tail: how it is made, how it weathers, what it costs the planet and the budget to maintain. We weigh embodied carbon, ecology and durability together, so a civic space is not only beautiful on day one but responsible and repairable for the decades that follow.
